Mid-September is when the Lehigh Valley turns to harvest: farmers markets pick up across the area, the Catasauqua Rough Riders settle into their fall football schedule, and the boroughs begin looking ahead to their autumn community events. Here is what is happening in and around Catasauqua and North Catasauqua this week, plus a few confirmed local spots worth a stop while you are in town.
This is an archived weekly roundup.
The events and news in this post covered the week of September 10, 2026, and have since passed. For current Catasauqua and North Catasauqua news, events, and things to do, see the latest post on the blog.
Local News and Community Happenings
The Catasauqua Borough Council holds its regular business meeting Monday, September 21. Council business meetings are open to the public, and agendas are posted on the borough website ahead of time, so residents can review what is on the docket before they attend. Borough offices and the council calendar are the best first stop for anything happening at the borough level this month.
Across the river, the boroughs are starting to turn toward their autumn traditions. Fall is when North Catasauqua and Catasauqua begin organizing the annual Catasauqua/North Catasauqua Halloween Parade and North Catasauqua's autumn community celebration. Exact 2026 dates for these late-season events had not yet been confirmed on the borough sites as of this week, so watch northcatasauqua.org and the parade's channels in the coming weeks for the official schedule and registration details.

The Catasauqua Area School District's calendar shows an early-dismissal day for all buildings on Wednesday, September 23, so families can plan for an earlier pickup that afternoon. The board of education held its September meeting earlier this week; board meetings follow a monthly cadence, with agendas and minutes posted on the district website for anyone who wants to follow along.
Fall sports season is in full swing under the Rough Riders banner. The varsity football team hosts Palmerton at home Friday, September 18, with kickoff at 7:00 p.m., then travels Thursday night, September 24, for an away game at Notre Dame–Green Pond. Game dates, times, and any schedule changes are posted on the Rough Riders athletics site, so check there before heading out to cheer on the home team.
Things to Do in the Area
Hands down, the weekend highlight is the Bethlehem Vintage & Harvest Market on Saturday, September 19, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Historic Bethlehem. Billed as a fall "farm in the city," it brings food and craft vendors, live music, a Biergarten, and tasting trails to the historic district, with a Market-to-Go preview on Friday afternoon, September 18. It is a short drive up Route 378 from Catasauqua and one of the valley's signature harvest events.
Closer to home, the Bath Farmers Market is a good bet for the closest producers' market to Catasauqua, setting up Sunday, September 20, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. near Monocacy Creek Park in neighboring Bath. Just a bit farther east, the Easton Farmers Market at Scott Park runs through the fall as the nation's oldest continuously operating open-air market. And for a day out, Clover Hill Vineyards & Winery in Breinigsville hosts its grape-stomp celebration this Saturday, September 12, from noon to 5:00 p.m., with live music and food on site.
When you want to get moving, the D&L Trail runs right along the Lehigh River near North Catasauqua, with a flat, riverfront path that is ideal for a walk, run, or bike ride as the leaves begin to shift from green to amber. William J. Albert Memorial Park on Grove Street is just around the block from 514 Grove Street, handy for an evening stroll between showings.
Good Places to Eat Nearby
Whether you are showing the home at 514 Grove St. or just exploring the borough, these local spots are worth a stop:
- Pie's On Pizzeria: a family-owned pizzeria on Front Street (front and Pine), in business since 1992, for pizza, cheesesteaks, and Italian favorites. Call (610) 264-7000 for takeout.
- Tony's Top Cat Bar & Grill: a neighborhood bar and grill at 607 Front St. with a Mexican twist, known for its queso and a popular Taco Tuesday.
- Blocker's Coffeehouse: a long-running local coffee shop on Front Street, ideal for a morning cup before your first showing.
- Sazon Dominicano Restaurante: on Bridge Street in the heart of the borough, for Dominican and Latin flavors at lunch or dinner.
Where to Confirm What Is On
Event dates and times can change, so confirm details directly before you go. The best local sources are the official Catasauqua borough site, the Catasauqua Area School District site, the Rough Riders athletics site, and the Lehigh Valley Press for neighborhood news.
A Note from the Home at 514 Grove Street
If you are spending time in North Catasauqua this week, the move-in-ready half twin at 514 Grove St. is worth a look: three bedrooms, one full and one half bath, an all-brick exterior, a covered front porch, a full basement, and a detached one-car garage, with fresh paint, new carpeting, and newer replacement windows. Tim Tepes of Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Cassidon Realty has listed it, and he would be glad to walk you through it while you are in the area.
